Right on, lets get this started with the lovely Predator. Dan from Predatorstuff.com provided some insides he received from George Sohn: In regards to possible Silicon utilization - In regards to White Glove Treatment in the US - And some pics for the dimensions: -Courtesy of Dan/Predatorstuff.com
I think they took the right choice of material for this beauty.A complete silicon skin would have cost no doubt so much more. And if they would have used silicon I could easily see some practical problems...because of the dust and the natural release of silicon oils, people would like to powder their preddie after a while and THEN is where the fun would begin!!!Powdering through a fishnet must be a hell of a fun job... lol Man,what a MAGINFICENT piece it is!!!But Phil, your SS maquette is really awesome too ,you know...Let it go!Let it go!...How could I?Didn't you see the pics, you nerd?We are talking about the most beautifull thing ever created!...one thing's for sure...we both likeses and wantses this beauty!HELL YEAH,baby!
He who powders through fishnets and caresses dreads. Welcome Phil, lol. I think you're right though, this is probably the closest to a mass seller CM will produce in a long time. There are many first time buyers in the market for this and I have visions of riots and torches at the CM headquarter if the most expensive piece in many peoples collection would start to deteriorate after some years, even if it's for their own lack of care.
Interesting to note Play.com are now contacting customers whom have placed an order for this maquette, requesting a security check. According to Play, they will be despatching orders within the next 14 days. Does this mean Play will be shipping prior to Cinemaquette? Unlikely. It would appear there's a breakdown in communication somewhere. Though if they do so, it'll make a pleasant change to see EU collectors receive something first.
Glad to have you Tril! This is indeed a very awkward statement by Play. The SIM situation comes to mind with many disgruntled customers. I still don't see the Predator on my shelf this year.
Hey y'all, there are many rumours swirling around the Internet at the moment regarding this piece. Play.com will not get this in October unless they are getting them airmailed in from someone in the US. Possible, but unlikely given the price they are charging. I echo the sentiments above. CM have to get the build quality, paint job, finish and QC right on this piece given the amount of homes it is destined for. It is one thing to deal with a small number of problems on a batch by batch basis, but if the hype is to believed these will be shipping in large numbers.
And so it begins: ebay Someone has decided to pre-sell the CM Predator based on his own pre-orders. Good luck fullfilling those I say. You also have to love the expected shipping date of 15/10/08.
Yeah, maybe somebody will BIN it and then let him eat the fees. He can't even complain to eBay assuming that he doesn't receive it within the next two months. I got a good laugh out of that italian auction where the seller pretended to sell a 1:1 CM 'Sample', using the comparison shot with Wang from that weird angle.
I asked him whether he is using Play or Forbidden Planet International for his pre-order. Don't 'spose I'll get a reply... The fees on that auction will be massive if the BIN & Paypal is used. And easily soak up a lot of the £250 profit assuming he is getting it for a grand from Play. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes if something is wrong with it. What happened to that 1:1 auction by the way? I missed out on the end of that.
Nooo! Not the "life-size" Cinemaquette. I would have thought someone would've jumped on this some time ago. Seriously, does the seller really expect someone to purchase this? What am I saying? There's bound to be someone foolish enough.
There is the possibility the seller ordered from FPI utilising discount codes. If so, he's making a profit closer to £500.
Yep,I defenitely see HCG doing a lifesize predator...I asked Mark once if they had any intention doing a 1/1 preddie bust or a full 1/1 statue and he replied:"No bust cause SS did a pretty defenitive one"...but in regard to a 1/1 full scale he said:"who knows..."
Ed - how is space these days? I got your email with the pic of the AVPR Predator scar 1:1 bust... are you still favouring this over the CM Pred? I think you should stay in the queue... just in case.
Unfortunately space is critical. However, I have no plans at present, to cancel the Predator maquette.
Dan from Predatorstuff.com has just posted a pic and the dimensons of the Predator shipping box. By my calculations it is slightly smaller than the Alien box in all dimensions apart from height.
For those whom may be too lazy to go find the info. Outer carton dimension: 34.25 * 28.5 * 21.75(inch) Net weight: 52.2 LBS Gross weight: 88.5 LBS
