Thanks Ed. I am no where near to your standard though. I bought a new camera and have been testing it out. Easy to pick up, probably take a lifetime to master.
I am interested to know Ed. I remember seeing some of your snaps (the Jack Sparrow CM close up that first appeared on PCN springs to mind), whereby the background (I think) was all plain white. Was that achieved in Photoshop? Only I am thinking of buying a copy and am interested in your views on it. I am not too keen on the idea of manipulating images to a great degree (although it would make creating imges for stenciling easier), but I would like to be able to manipulate backgrounds more.

My photos are not manipulated in such ways.
Other than resizing my images, I do very little to them. On occasion I will balance lighting if I've 'messed up' when taking the photo itself.

Lars, how is that order of yours coming along? Here is a new shot of mine!

Don't you torture me with pics like that. Actually I had him backordered for three weeks now (as you know) but when they didn't receive shipment I decided to postpone my order till the Predator situation is a little more clear.
I'm planning for a trip to Tokyo early next year and it would be inconvenient to receive two CM's in december.
However I received an informational eMail last week that some T-850 came back in stock. I wonder if that's new product or something they dug up within their dist chain.

Good to hear that! I have to say, I don't really like the idea of manipulating images. Kinda glad you posted this Ed. Think I'll give photoshop a miss now.

Sheesh Lars, that is an over-reaction to rival Jim Kirk screaming "KHAAAAAAAANNNN" down a communicator whilst sitting in the Genesis cave during Star Trek II. Surely the single greatest utterance in movie history.

FPI's contribution to the credit crunch. They wanna stage a superprime crisis too, starting with my CC. :money:
I'll post a bailout plan soon, bear with me.

I wonder if the price rise means they have them back in stock?

That and the Dollar. I think they're kicking themselves for the discount pricing on the first Predator orders.

    I guess they did.
I still think that $749 is quite a good price for this piece though. I think I paid £900 for my first T850.

Yeah, pumpkins shot of this edition over at lastalliance are very nice. He is obviously using a pro setup for his photos (you can see his setup in one shot he took of his Pred - it looks, ummm - 'expensive'). There are a few close ups in particular of the T850 that really do it justice.

    MAGNIFICENT statue!!!
Do you guys know why CM gave the T-850 a plastic gun?
Wasn't it feasible to produce it in metal & wood?Too expensive? :hmm:

Yes, I think he's using his employers studio setup to do these photos, some Media Design Company.

Phil I have often wondered why they gave this piece a plastic gun. If you look at the photgraph above you can see the seam line on the 'wooden' handle where the two pieces of plastic are joined together. There is also a seam running down the length of the gun, though this is slightly less obvious. The strap also does not hang naturally straight out of the box as it is tightly wound during the packaging process and needs some manipulation to get it looking right.
Despite what people say about CM being a not for profit company (which I have never been taken in by), I guess they wanted to keep costs low on this, the second figure in the line - and so compromised on the gun.
Given the fact that Aragorn and Jack have metal swords and guns, and Indy's gun is metal I imagine that if the T850 were being released now instead of three or four years ago we might expect to see the gun being made out of real components.

That explains the results he gets. Some of his photo work is amongst the best I have seen anywhere.

I'm not so sure that Jack's stuff is metal, not that it would bother me though.
