Oh no Phil that's terrible. Really sorry to read that - never a nice feeling when you do this to your own piece.

Can you reapply chrome? Raf might know how.

Wow so sorry to hear that Phil , But you know if you could get that spztix chrome paint I would recommend to chrome paint it and you will be happy with results . The glossier the black the more chrome look you get .

    Shit, Phil!

Best to follow Raf's advice I think. Is the damage on the backside at least?

I remember having used chrome polish on the teeth of your Alien Warrior bust back in the days. Lucky for me, they were solid metal. But it's so hard to tell in advance.

    Thanks for the advice guys!
It's in the front Lars. Freddy came over to give me some advice how to airbrush it but I wouldn't dare to take such a challenge,lol...it's my clumsyness that caused this mess in the first place...I'll search for a pro airbrush painter.

I'm reluctant to repaint it chrome cause it will look different from the other chrome areas.I wouldn't mind to have the top layer in a black 'satiné' (similar to the other black parts).
I'm also asking myself if the base wouldn't look better with less chrome and more black in the mix? :hmm:

Hard choice. In my mind, I associate the chrome'ish/silvery logo with the MIB, like so:

    logo200.jpg

In that way, it makes sense to me that they made the base the way they did, though the quality they ended up with did look a little debatable in some pics I saw.

Now, a base in black chrome on the other hand...

Lars, you mean the darker (black) chrome Cinemaquette used on the their TX?

ah,ok...got you buddy... but wouldn't it be too much of a hassle to cover up all those different black parts such as those letters, stripes, etc?

Well there are different ways of doing this , one mask it off with tape which would take a while . Or actually paint the whole thing chrome . At least the letters which seam to be the most dificult ones to mask . Then once it is al, chrome then just go in with silly putty which is easier that way you can really cover in those crevices of the letters then just paint them black . Which is what I would do .OR. If the sanding was done on the top part of the base where the bust sits , you can then mask from that seam line down and just chrome the top part of it where there is no black There will be a difference but still would look pretty cool .

Still don't know Zhong...when the time comes I've found someone capable I'll ask for his opinion first.Colourwise I think the top layer would be nice in black satiné.I wouldn't mind.
I could ask JP Reuchet but I dispise all the hassle of sending the base out which won't be cheap on top of that...it weights a ton!Hoping to find a local artist experienced in airbrushing.
    It's a shame Raf doesn't live closeby,lol

Phil , you could always ask this company (http://www.belcroom.be/voor-wie.asp) how much it would cost to chrome the entire base.
