I tend to agree with you on the Iron Man but that's as far as I want to go in your perception.

Nooooooo, it will be at least 2k, but the Downey sculpt will have to be killer and the coa better be signed by him too. Given they copied the base from another company, would be nice if they chopped off a couple hundred

Thanks Steve for bringing us the previews on the next CM piece. :top:

It has been rather exciting over the past couple of days with the anticipation of the announcement of the next CM (after all these years) and first pictures of the CM IM Mk43.

While I'm glad CM has got the Marvel license, I'm in agreement with Phil and Mirak. Not too excited about the choice of the Mk43, would have very much preferred the Mk III suit which, IMO, is the iconic IM suit which brought the IM franchise to gain the popularity it has today. I can remember the first time I saw the Mk III suit in the movies and was blown away by it. All other suits following that did not have the same impact on meā€¦and the many reiterations of the suit is just milking the franchise for all its worth.

Not feeling the action pose either. As Phil correctly pointed out - looks a lot like what Sideshow has done. The only saving grace for this would be the likeness of the RDJ reveal, and the mechanics of how the reveal would be attempted on the CM.

Isn't it wonderful that all statues don't look the same.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it wasn't intentional that they copied that base, but damn, I'm sorry, they need to change it. For something that is supposed to be so unique to all other IM pieces, it just isn't. A silicon portrait may not be enough to save this.

Same design base is not a problem for me
Hot toys do the godfather with his chair, why CM cant do the same?

I dont know if its the pics or not but the base look a bit plastic....
Maybe mark43 is so shiny that the base look very mat...no shade...

    Looking for more pics

The base is similar but not identical by the looks of it. The CM base will be bigger, the gaps in the lights are wider with surface detail in between and the surface of the CM base is flat as opposed to having a grill effect.

I'm not sure how finalised the base design is - this is the prototype and like all prototypes may change. But if it doesn't I won't lose any sleep over it.

True, but I look at the imagination and thought that went into the last 3 ECC pieces, and for these prices, it has to be something truly unique to be well perceived.

You throw in IM, which has saturated the market, it has to be on the same level as the Marcus maquette. I want to like this as I would like the best representation of IM out there, and I know the quality will be there , but I'm not sure this piece is the "whole" package compared to what has been done and will be done in the future .

Time and again collectors talk of the need for definitive perfect representations to line the hallowed walls of their collections rooms; and such items so rarely come. And so instead all they end up doing is lining up to bitterly lament what might have been had they been calling the shots.

Bottom line is to be glad of these pieces for what they are, rather than fixating on what they're aren't. I've found there's a lot more satisfaction to be had from this hobby that way.

Iron Man Mark 43 is an unproven version of the armor that can't be considered "the best" yet so right there the premise is flawed. Most people would agree that the Mark 3 is the most definitive by it's nature. In fact, rumors say that the 43 armor may be taken over by Ultron (red eyes on the Hot Toys 1/6 exclusive) and the Mark 45 will save the day in the end. So all the Mark 43 is (for now) is an inverted color version 2 of the Mark 42 that may be just one more disposable armor in the overall picture. Hell, the Mark 7 is the one that saved New York (the world) from an alien invasion.

Personally, looking at Age of Ultron and how the film does, I can see some people picking up the Hot Toys 1/4 version as it can be set up and left alone as an iconic museum IM piece FOR THAT FILM. The CM is a movie Iron Man piece in 1/3 scale with a silicone RDJ likeness. Take it for what it is and enjoy it if you decide to purchase.

    Just rumors buddy. :D

From the trailer you can see the 43 is still active when he activates the Hulkbuster so who knows.

So the 43 a and 42 armours are the same - but with inverted colours?
