I can't believe Coolprops is releasing another Predator with such awful dreads...these look even worse than their City Hunter bust.
Unacceptable for that kind of money!

First pictures of the Big Chap production piece.
Price is ridiculous for this bust in the EU.
This is damn near perfection imho.

    You and me both.

It looks very good from what I can see. Chrome teeth? Nice!

But signed by his late wife Carmen... oh come on now! :headknock:

Going forth and back on ordering this exquisite bust...but man, this is so expensive for just the head.
Apparently this one is cheaper ordering directly from Sideshow. With shipment cost (100 EUR),taxes & custom fees we are talking approx. 2000 EUR while the cheapest prices I've seen for this bust in the EU = 2300 EUR.Some shops are asking 2600 EUR. :baffled:
I reckon though there will never be a more accurate, better looking Big Chap bust than this.A perfect copy from the one in the Giger Museum.

Many are taking words as 'grail' very lightly but in this case I'm looking at this bust and thinking : no doubt this could be the ultimate grail 1/1 piece from one of the best SF/Horror movies ever!

    Smitten like a kitten.

The downside of pre-ordering is to say bye-bye to the gorgeous ECC Gremlin statue.

    Ahhhggggrrrr...decisions.

For now I'll wait to see the price tag on the Mohawk.

Between the two and while incomparable, I'd go for the Mohawk no doubt about it. Much more creative work in this one and just nothing like it out there. The Alien bust, well, it is yet another big chap rendition. More accurate, more details, sure. If you really wanted to go so far as to open the old pandora's box of accuracy again, I'd say that the almost clear dome is at least arguable since I remember it differently from the movie as well as the museum (maybe due to aging/dust, who could really tell anymore?). I understand that it makes little sense for companies to go the full lengths of sculpting an intrinsic skull only to then smoke the dome to levels where it's barely visible anymore but then again...

Thank you for your thoughts Lars.
Always appreciate to hear other people's views.

One of the major factors that make me hesitate about the Alien head is the ungodly amount of money it costs.

You know, the thing with Alien heads imho is that, what companies will do is cast the dome in clear acrylic/plastic and then afterwards smoke the thing with paint (if at all) while what they really ought to do is adjust the basic degree of translucency right away during casting and then add the darker areas later on.
No idea if it's a cost issue or if it's hard to do on the production level but it makes it look inaccurate to me.

If I remember correctly the dome of the half scale 'miniature' Giger bust was perfectly executed in the way you describe, with the right degree of translucency during casting.

I've yet to see one in person but from pics it does look more accurate than the others.

Ouch...initial thoughts from Frobay over at SF.

    IVUV97S.jpg

Just got mine scratched up dome. Very disappointed with the paint job. Pretty horrible in my opinion. I wanted to love this but the black paint job On this is just tacky. Looks like they shot it with a spray paint can. I'm returning. 1000.00 dollar Bust at best.
